Welcome to Amherst Presbyterian Church! We are a joyful, welcoming congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in Amherst, Virginia. We minister to the city of Amherst, to the community of Sweet Briar College, and to the greater Blue Ridge area.

Since 1831, Amherst Presbyterian Church has been a congregation of worship and prayer, a place of family and fellowship, and an instrument of service and stewardship as we seek to follow God's call into the greater Amherst community.

Whether in worship with our beautiful choir, Bible study, Sunday school, work projects, local mission activities, Presbyterian women's groups, our highly-rated weekday preschool, or any number of occasions for joyful fellowship, our congregation is committed to nurturing all of the different pieces of the Christian life. We invite you to join us on the journey of faith, as you discover your ministry through common prayer, worship, praise, study, service and fellowship.

Come worship with us at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.

We are joyful, friendly worshipers who express God's love to all through faith, Christian service to the community, and nurture of one another.

On March 17, Amherst Presbyterian Church welcomed representatives from across the Presbytery of the James for the ordination and installation of our new pastor, the Reverend Matt Gaventa. Matt is a 2012 graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary with prior roots in, and a love for, the central Virginia Blue Ridge. He is living in Lovingston with his wife Sarah and son Charlie. You can read more about him in this profile in the Amherst New Era-Progress.
