Preschool

A primary outreach of Amherst Presbyterian Church is the Amherst Presbyterian Church Preschool.  Open to the community, the school engages children in a variety of activities and study to help them grow in a Christian atmosphere.

The two-year-old preschool meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and  is designed to emphasize socialization.  With a ratio of one teacher/aide to four children, individual attention is assured as these young preschoolers discover the world around them through play, craft, and language activities.

The three-year-old preschool meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.  The program is based on themes to spike interest and encourage individual creativity through storytelling, crafts, creative movement and music, discovery, and cooking.  Numerous skills and concepts are introduced in a literacy-rich environment. A ratio of one teacher to eight students is maintained to help build individuality and self-esteem.  A short bible lesson is taught each week by the pastor.

Four-year-old preschool meets weekday mornings and combines intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development.  Various activities are based on themes, though more detailed to keep up children's growing attention span.  The skills and concepts necessary for kindergarten are reinforced though many activities provided throughout the day.  A ratio of one teacher to nine children is maintained. A short bible lesson is taught each week by the pastor.
